Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (WACHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation that aims to empower Aboriginal people to take control of their health and wellbeing through clinical and community programs.
Our main services are in Wellington, Dubbo, Moree, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, with outreach to other towns and communities.
About the Role:
The Medical Receptionist supports the Wellington community within the Clinic environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include being the first point of contact for clients, providing high-level customer service, managing appointments, and client data. The role involves transport services to support clinic operations and health programs, ensuring quality client service.
Key Responsibilities include:
Maintaining client privacy and dignity.
Handling sensitive information with tact and diplomacy.
Ensuring confidentiality of personnel and client information.
Providing front desk customer service.
Answering and transferring calls professionally.
Coordinating appointments, updating systems, and managing phone triage.
Generating reports as needed.
Understanding issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
Ensuring compliance with EEO, WHS, and ethical practices.
Transporting clients to and from the hospital or home as scheduled.
Responding to emergency client pickups.
Delivering and collecting medications, pathology, supplies, and equipment.
Keeping logs of journeys and pickups.
Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and reporting damages.
Using log books daily.
Operating vehicles and fuel cards per WACHS procedures.
Assisting with fleet maintenance and servicing.
Experience, Qualifications & Licenses:
Certificate of Aboriginality.
Current National Police Check.
Working With Children Check NSW.
Australian Driver’s License.
COVID-19 vaccination and booster (or valid exemption).
Excellent communication skills, especially with Aboriginal communities.
Computer skills, including appointment and patient information systems.
Willingness to undertake professional development.
Sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and issues.
Previous receptionist experience.
