About the Role
The HSE Officer will work closely with the HR & HSE Manager and will be accountable for monitoring compliance with WHS legislation and internal systems, conducting regular workplace inspections and safety audits, coordinating incident investigations, supporting corrective and preventative actions and fostering a safety first culture across the business. The role will also contribute to risk assessments, safety training initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and monitor the organization's WHS policies and procedures.
* Act as the key contact for emergency procedures and provide support during incidents.
* Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, codes of practice, and expected standards.
* Conduct regular risk assessments, site inspections and safety audits.
* Develop and manage hazard identification activities, hazard reporting and develop preventative measures to reduce instances of incidents and injuries.
* Ensure appropriate controls are in place for identified risks and hazards and follow up on corrective actions in a timely manner.
* Conduct investigations into workplace incidents, injuries, or near misses, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
* Create and deliver work, health & safety trainings, as required.
* Contribute to the establishment of a safety focused culture.
* Develop and distribute tool box talks.
* Prepare and maintain accurate work, health and safety documentation and comprehensive reports.
* Ensure applicable safety PPE requirements are maintained, appropriate safety signage is visible and the maintenance of all emergency and operational equipment, across the business.
* Provide WHS advice and support to all staff and contribute to continuous safety improvement initiatives across the business.
About You
* Proven experience in a Health & Safety role.
* Ability to set standards and drive accountability.
* Sound knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and relevant regulations.
* Confident communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships
* Organised, analytical and comfortable reporting on safety performance
* Proactive, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement
