Be part of a local government in a region known for its fine cuisines and exotic foods. Your role will be to manage the payroll function and systems and lead a team of 3 to deliver the payroll for 1100 employees.
**This 21 month maternity contract is a critical role, responsibilities will include**:
- Management of the payroll and HRIS system, ensuring effective and compliant payroll services
- Lead a team of 3 payroll officers and deliver various payroll projects
- Ownership of reporting and compliance, ensuring statutory and legislative requirements are met
- Assist and support managers and stakeholders, including workplace grievances and investigations
- Consult and build trust with managers to maximise outcomes of related strategies and projects
- Interpretation of EAs and Awards as required
- Pursue professional development opportunities to stay up to date with changing legislation, trends and best practice payroll and HR developments
**To be considered for the role, your skills and experience will include**:
- Experience managing a team of 3 to deliver a a fortnightly payroll of 1000+, on time and accurately
- Ability to work independently with strong judgement and decision making skills
- Accountability and experienced leading a team and delivering related projects
- Solid management and interpersonal skills - ability to self manage and lead a team, setting priorities to achieve objectives
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment managing team and stakeholder expectations
- Good judgement and resilience with help with interruptions and problem solving
