The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia – Quality Assurance Programs (RCPAQAP) is a global leader in External Quality Assurance (EQA) for pathology laboratories. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Scientist to join our Blood Disciplines Group, covering Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Transfusion, Immunology and Serology.
This is a full-time Maternity Relief position (37.5 hours per week for up to 14 months) based in St Leonards, Sydney, within walking distance of public transport.
About the Role
In this role you will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality External Quality Assurance surveys and support our participating laboratories. Key responsibilities include:
* Planning, preparing and dispatching proficiency testing materials
* Reviewing survey results and reports
* Providing technical support to customers
* Ensuring all work complies with company SOPs and WHS guidelines
This position is ideal for someone with recent experience in a Chemical Pathology laboratory who is passionate about quality and diagnostic improvement.
About You
We're looking for someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Essential
* Tertiary qualifications in medical science
* Minimum 3 years' recent experience in a Chemical Pathology laboratory
* Willingness to handle survey materials safely and accurately
* Strong interest in diagnostic improvement and laboratory quality
* Proven accuracy and attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Ability to manage independent tasks and team‑based projects
* High‑level technical and report‑writing ability
* Commitment to EEO, ethical conduct, diversity and WHS
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid work visa
Desirable
* Experience in Clinical Haematology
* Experience with statistical analysis
* Familiarity with CRM systems
* Willingness to present at conferences
* Project planning and management experience
* Membership of a related professional organisation
