French Language Assistant (Middle School)

Haileybury is seeking a passionate and experienced French Language Assistant to join our team at the Edrington Campus in Berwick. This is a 12-month fixed-term position offering an exciting opportunity to support students in developing their French language skills.
Main Responsibilities
- Reinforce speaking skills either on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students
- Help students to deepen understanding of concepts covered in class or extending those whose proficiency exceeds expectations for a particular year level
- Differentiate reading materials to suit the different levels of applicable language fluency of students
- Assist in the preparation of teaching resources for a particular year level
- Keep records of student progress in their applicable language development
- Maintain ongoing communication with applicable language teaching staff regarding student progress and any behavioural issues
- Where required, assist in Middle School applicable language classroom activities and/or extracurricular activities
About You
- Native speaker of French
- Sound knowledge of French history and culture
- Familiarity with the Victorian and Australian French curriculum (Years 7-10 Sequence)
- Experience as a Languages teacher or assistant in middle years French classrooms
