Key Responsibilities
* Support patients and families in navigating the complex cancer care system, ensuring they receive culturally appropriate services.
* Provide advocacy to ensure services are safe, respectful, and meet the unique needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Assist families with emotional, social, and practical support throughout the cancer journey.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including GPs, nurses, oncologists, allied health professionals, and community programs.
* Build strong partnerships with hospitals, cancer services, and community members to improve cancer outcomes.
* Contribute to community education, prevention, and awareness activities that promote cultural safety and understanding.
About You
* Strong understanding of the cultural, social, and health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
* Experience in Aboriginal health or advocacy roles, preferably in a cancer care setting.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex health information simply and respectfully.
* Organised, adaptable, and confident in managing competing priorities.
* Collaborative, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in cancer care is highly regarded but not essential.
