Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is the principal racing authority for thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing in Western Australia. With more than 24,000 people involved, we focus on forging a sustainable future for racing in WA and operate the TAB, over 300 off‐course retail outlets, a call centre, and an online presence.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive Safety Advisor for a 12‐month maximum term to support a safety‐oriented culture across the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Conduct WHS risk assessments, inspections, and audits across office environments, facilities, and events.
* Support incident and investigation activities to drive continuous improvement.
* Develop and review WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance and elevate WHS practices.
* Deliver safety training and tailored programmes.
* Contribute to WHS projects supporting broader business strategies.
* Provide injury‐management support, advising injured employees on workers' compensation processes and return‐to‐work activities.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in WHS or equivalent relevant experience.
* Demonstrated experience managing workers' compensation claims, liaising with insurers, and supporting return‐to‐work processes.
* Experience in a safety adviser or similar WHS role within a complex or multi‐site environment.
* Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and associated regulations.
* Experience supporting risk assessments, control validation, and safety system implementation.
* Capability in incident investigation methodologies (e.g. ICAM or equivalent).
* Ability to critically assess potential solutions and make well‐reasoned recommendations.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to engage a diverse range of people and collaborate within a team.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
* Commitment to providing a high level of customer service and WHS support.
* High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality in all work undertaken.
