Finance Support Officer

Location: Flood Portfolio Office in Lismore. Flexible work options available.
Term: 35 hours a week, up to 30 June 2027.

We seek a dynamic Finance Support Officer to support the Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP) in Lismore City Council.

What we expect from you
* Provide financial support services across the FRP.
* Assist in preparing journals, processing transactions and reconciling accounts.
* Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data and documentation for credit evaluation.
* Process accounting transactions including purchase orders, payments, accounting support and journal entry.
* Assist in preparing proposals and other relevant materials in line with regulatory requirements and Portfolio policies.
* Support the Finance team in managing client relationships, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
* Assist in developing strategies to enhance client satisfaction and retention related to financial obligations.
* Review and improve systems and reconciliation processes.
* Compile information and prepare documentation as directed.
* Assist with internal and external audits.
Qualifications and skills
* Experience using an ERP system and advanced Excel skills.
* Strong attention to detail, discretion, accountability and professionalism.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to build trust and integrity with stakeholders.
* Problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
* Previous experience in Accounts Payable, Receivables and Payroll desirable.
* Effective time management and organisational skills.
Conditions of Employment
The position will be governed by the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures, and agreements.
