Maintaining critical facilities infrastructure is a critical function within our operations team. As a Critical Facilities Engineering Manager, you will be at the forefront of this effort, delivering best-in-class service to our data center customers. We embrace diversity in thought and contribution and are committed to providing an equitable work environment that is foundational to our core values as a company and is vital to our success.

The Eastern Cluster operates four data centers across four separate locations (Canberra, Silverwater, Brisbane, Unanderra) and we are looking to recruit for a Critical Facilities Engineering Manager. This role will require ownership of all facets of the onsite facilities function, including overseeing site-based engineering teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will also provide close onsite and remote support to ensure seamless operations.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop and lead a high-performing team of engineers across multiple locations. Great communication skills, risk identification, and planning expertise will be essential in managing supervisors and engineers effectively. The manager will need to be financially and commercially aware and have a key understanding to assist with budget input and management.

Key Responsibilities:

* Leadership: Direct management of IBX supervisors and engineering teams, ensuring 24/7 operational oversight and direction.
* Safety and Compliance: Promote a culture of safety, human error avoidance, and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
* Operational Management: Oversee the performance and maintenance of critical facilities infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
* Strategic Planning: Provide strategic guidance to meet financial, service, and safety expectations. Forecast operational training needs and secure resources for training deployment.
* Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with other departments to support overall business objectives and customer satisfaction.
* Budget Management: Manage budgets effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations and resource optimization.
* Change Control: Implement and oversee change control processes to ensure that all modifications to critical infrastructure are systematically reviewed, approved, and documented.
* Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with all operations policies and procedures in a uniform and consistent manner across all sites.
* Incident Management: Develop and implement incident management protocols to swiftly address and resolve any operational disruptions.
* Contractor and Contract Management: Oversee contractor performance and manage contracts to ensure service delivery meets Equinix's standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

* Proven track record for taking site ownership and ideally in multi-site role, with the ability to troubleshoot teams in various locations simultaneously.
* Experienced with budget management exposure (headcount, capital, and expense management).
* Critical operations experience required with a strong understanding of communications and mechanical/electrical/controls systems.
* Well-versed in the complexities of project and program management.
* Deep understanding of design documents, contracts, and technical information.
* Demonstrated experience managing campus-level requirements and making targeted recommendations.
* Strong understanding of performance management and recruitment, development, and retention of employees.
