Position overview
The Project Assistant Archivist will support the processing of a large and complex personal archival collection to enhance its accessibility for research and engagement. Working under the direction of the Lead Project Archivist and Senior Archivist, the role involves appraising, arranging, and describing records in the AtoM database in line with archival standards. The position also includes rehousing materials for preservation, identifying items for future digitisation, and contributing to promotional activities. This role is part of a small, collaborative team within the ANU Archives and requires adherence to ANU's policies, particularly in relation to safety and equal opportunity.
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have relevant archival qualifications or substantial experience working with complex personal archival collections. They will demonstrate strong skills in appraising, arranging, and describing archival materials using databases such as AtoM, with a solid understanding of descriptive standards. Experience in safely handling and rehousing archival items is essential, along with high-level written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will work effectively within a small team under the direction of the Lead Project Archivist to make the collection accessible for research and digitisation.
