Early Childhood Teacher

Lyrebird Preschool is seeking a dynamic and dedicated early childhood teacher for a full time position commencing in January 2026 (part time may be considered for the right candidate). This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a collaborative team developing a unique, play based, early learning program integrating the Reggio Emilia approach, immersive nature play and connecting with Country.
About Us
Lyrebird Preschool is a 40 place, community based preschool catering for children aged 3 to 5 years. We are highly regarded within the local area and are proud to be rated as exceeding the National Quality Standard. We are unique in our provision of early childhood education with emphasis placed on nature pedagogy, inquiry based learning and partnering with our First Nations community to develop and implement authentic cultural learning on Country.
The Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced preschool teacher who has a thorough knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, an ability to collaborate and learn with colleagues in research, and is able to develop rich learning opportunities and projects that are drawn from a variety of natural learning contexts and are responsive to children’s emerging ideas and strengths.
The successful candidate will need to be available to attend staff meetings and professional development sessions which may occur during the shut down period or outside the preschool hours.
The preschool offers Above Award salary and conditions negotiated with the successful candidate.
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with children ‘beyond the gate’ and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, around all creatures, and in a range of nature-based settings.
- Have a research mindset and seek to learn more about the Reggio Emilia approach and immersive nature play programs.
- Have a collaborative approach to planning and work alongside other teachers, educators and the educational leader.
- Be committed to ongoing qualified learning and critical reflection on practice.
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with children, their families and colleagues.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting children’s learning.
- Hold an approved Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Have knowledge and experience with the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.
- Have proficient level NESA Accreditation.
- Hold a current Working with Children Clearance (NSW).
- Hold current certificates in First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis.
- Have an understanding of Child Protection legislation and hold a current, approved Child Protection Training qualification.
