Role Overview / Description
Reporting to a commercially focused CFO as the Group Financial Controller you will have end-to-end responsibility for group-wide financial governance reporting and strategic support across this ASX-listed mid-cap manufacturer and distributor. You will oversee financial reporting compliance internal controls tax management and treasury operations while leading a team of 10 corporate finance professionals across the ANZ network.
With significant accountability you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity accuracy and timeliness of the Groups financial reporting and compliance obligations. This includes preparing consolidated financial statements managing external audit processes and maintaining robust internal control frameworks to support sustainable long-term growth.
In your first 12 months your role as Group Financial Controller will be to enhance financial governance frameworks drive continuous improvement across financial processes and support strategic initiatives including M&A; activities. This is a rare opportunity to join an outstanding ELT and have an opportunity to gain experience that will get you to a CFO position with a sizeable ASX listed business.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting : Oversee preparation of half-year and annual consolidated financial statements ASX announcements and monthly Board reporting in compliance with IFRS
- Tax & Compliance : Manage comprehensive tax compliance across ANZ including income tax BAS preparation transfer pricing and maintaining strong ATO assurance rating
- Internal Controls : Develop and maintain robust internal control frameworks drive continuous improvement of finance systems and processes across multi-entity operations
- Technical Accounting : Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards prepare technical position papers for Audit Committee and lead acquisition accounting for M&A; activities
- Treasury Management : Support CFO in cash flow management debt facilities financial covenant compliance and hedge accounting
- Business Systems : Optimise the use of Business Systems to create efficiencies within operations including leveraging AI
Candidate Profile
You are a CA or CPA qualified Finance leadership with significant experience in ASX controllership. A demonstrated technical grounding achieved from a Big 4 or mid-tier organisation would be highly regarded for this role. You have depth of experience in leading reporting internal controls compliance and governance in listed environments. Your passion lies in developing technical and finance best practice in complex businesses. You are comfortable with your skillset in building influence with external and internal stakeholders. Experience in M&A; due diligence and integration processes will be highly regarded. As an executive finance leader you hold a consultative leadership style that will nurture and grow an experienced and mature team and you are a curious leader who seeks to understand. Either way you will bring to the role strong commercial acumen vision for growth and a passion for sound governance.
