About the Role
We are seeking a Planning Manager with a strong environmental planning background to take a lead role in securing planning and environmental approvals for a new concrete plant in Sydney. Working as part of a close-knit project team, you will own the planning approvals strategy and guide projects from early feasibility through to construction and operational compliance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands‐on across complex approvals, engaging with regulators and stakeholders, and driving practical outcomes in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead planning and environmental approval processes for a new concrete manufacturing facility in NSW
* Develop and manage approvals strategies under the NSW EP&A Act, including DAs, EIS/SEE processes and agency referrals
* Coordinate specialist technical studies (noise, air quality, traffic, water, contamination, etc.)
* Manage engagement with local councils, NSW planning authorities, EPA and other regulators
* Oversee community consultation, public exhibition and responses to submissions
* Support site selection, land use permissibility and planning due diligence
* Manage external planning and environmental consultants
* Ensure compliance with planning conditions during construction and into operations
* Provide clear, pragmatic advice on planning risk, approvals timing and regulatory obligations
Qualifications
* Relevant qualifications in Planning, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science or a related discipline, with professional recognition or membership
* Minimum 5 years' experience in environmental planning, industrial development, infrastructure, energy, utilities or resources sectors
Required Skills
* Proven experience delivering development approvals and managing projects from early-stage planning through to construction and handover
* Strong understanding of NSW planning and environmental regulatory frameworks, with exposure to federal approvals desirable
* A strategic and solutions-focused mindset, supported by strong organisational, communication and negotiation skills
* Demonstrated capability in managing complex approvals processes and multiple stakeholders concurrently
