Job Description: We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Fire Communications team as a Fire Communications Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing critical support in emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

* Key Responsibilities:
o Accept incoming fire and other relevant emergency incident calls and enquiries and collect relevant information.
o Assess the risks associated with a situation and the availability and capability of resources to determine the appropriate response and/or resources to be despatched.
o Despatch and coordinate appropriate resources to calls for assistance and notify other organisations in accordance with the Communication Doctrine and Directives.
o Maintain and update all incident information in the centre's computer aided despatch system, continually monitor progress, support and liaise with operational staff until completion of incident.
* Requirements:
o A valid Blue Card (from Blue Card Services).
o Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship or Australian Resident Status.
o Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations) or ability to obtain it.
o Ability to successfully complete training programs of the 'Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed level.
o Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy.
o First Aid and CPR Certificates.

Our multi-hazard emergency response includes road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue. We work together with our volunteers across the state to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities.
