Your New Role
This position is responsible for effectively supervising works and teams to deliver high quality maintenance of the City's sewer, stormwater and flood mitigation systems. Working both independently and as part of the Sewer and Stormwater team, you will demonstrate excellent leadership to achieve timely and productive outcomes on a range of projects.
This Position Will Be Responsible For
* Lead, engage, mentor and develop the team, ensuring effective personnel management in order to deliver operational works and achieve the best organisational and community outcomes.
* Plan and coordinate the sewer, stormwater and flood maintenance teams' work activities including plant, materials and contractors.
* Supervise maintenance activities including choke clearing; sewer main jetting and rodding; pipe laying and repair; stormwater pit and pipe cleaning; excavation and shoring; levee bank and flood gate maintenance; pump station maintenance; plant operation; soil and sediment control; fencing; lawn/garden maintenance; rehabilitation works; traffic management; and site safety.
* Coordinate and respond to customer service requests in accordance with approved service levels.
* Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role including but not limited to; Work Health & Safety documentation and reports (i.e. site safety inductions, risk assessments), purchasing requisitions; quotations and orders; timesheet and leave authorisations, maintenance of registers etc.
* Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with workplace safety compliance requirements including utilisation and maintenance all items of Council plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C).
* Assist with the development and implementation of the annual work program and plans e.g. Traffic control plans, work method statements.
* Assist the Manager and Supervisor with the development and implementation of the annual work programs and operational plans, including budgetary and other resource requirements.
* Ensure the timely management and transfer of infrastructure maintenance data to the asset integrity team.
* Attend out-of-hours call outs in accordance with the on-call roster.
* Work collaboratively with other teams within the Operations Division, the Civil Operations Directorate and other Council Directorates as required.
What You Will Need To Succeed
The successful applicant will have:
* Experience in leading and working effectively in a team and independently.
* Qualifications relevant to the role and/or relevant experience related to the role
* Class C Driver's Licence.
* General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
* SafeWork NSW Traffic Controller Training Card and SafeWork NSW Implement Traffic Control Plans Training Card.
In accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation, the successful applicant is required to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Q-Fever and will be asked to provide evidence of this.
