Overview
Join a dedicated team helping to manage and improve essential water and wastewater infrastructure for our community. As a Technical Officer – Assets, you'll play a key role in investigating, assessing, and supporting the operation of Council's Water and Wastewater networks. This role suits someone who enjoys technical problem‐solving, field work, data analysis, and working collaboratively across engineering and operational teams.
Responsibilities
* Deliver technical support and investigations for Council's water and wastewater assets.
* Undertake pump station testing (water and wastewater) for commissioning, condition assessment, and calibration.
* Maintain and operate specialised pressure, depth, odour, and flow data logging equipment.
* Work closely with engineers, operations and GIS teams to keep asset information accurate and up to date.
* Provide clear technical insights and recommendations through data analysis and reporting.
* Use key systems (GIS, SCADA, MEX) while working safely and independently in a fast‐paced environment.

We are seeking
* Relevant Water Industry Operations Training (minimum Certificate III) combined with extensive experience in the operation, maintenance and/or construction of water supply and /or wastewater assets.
* Demonstrated in depth technical knowledge of water supply and/or wastewater infrastructure.
* Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, particularly the ability to effectively communicate technical information to supervisors and members of the public.
* An ability to work independently with minimal supervision and enjoys both field-based and office-based work.
* Experience collaborating effectively with engineers, supervisors, operational staff and contractors.

Location
This position is based in Tweed Heads and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

Selection Criteria:

* Explain your experience using technical software systems, such as GIS, SCADA, asset management systems (i.e. MEX), and data logging equipment.
* Desirable: Describe your experience with sampling and testing methods used in water or wastewater networks.
* Desirable: Outline your knowledge or experience with the mechanical and electrical operation or maintenance of reticulation networks, pumping stations, or treatment plants.
* Do you hold a current Drivers Licence?
* Do you hold a White Card?
