About the role:
Rabobank’s Credit Risk Management team is an independent, proactive risk management team within Risk 2nd line of defence. Due to an internal movement, the team now has an opening for a Credit Approvals Manager supporting the VIC/TAS/WA Territory. This role can be based in locations across Rabobank offices (Victoria, Tasmania or Western Australia preferred).
As Credit Approvals Manager, you will oversee the credit granting process related to Rabobank’s Country Banking / rural lending business. This is a hands-on role with no direct reports. You will challenge the first line of defence & engage with Second / Third line colleagues proactively to maintain a high-quality portfolio by reducing credit & operational losses, ensuring risks (financial & non-financial) are properly identified & addressed, and that trends are recognized & acted upon.
Top Role Accountabilities:

Engage with the Country Banking business from loan origination to approval, ensuring risks are properly identified and transactions fit the risk appetite, acting as a decision maker with delegated authority.
Be fully accountable for decisions within your delegated authority and communicate decisions promptly.
Form independent opinions on risk acceptability, considering credit, structure, legal, tax, & commercial aspects to facilitate effective approval processes.
Collaborate with branch staff & management, providing guidance on content, structure, & account management strategies.
Detect changes in internal & external contexts, including risk criteria updates, requiring revision of risk treatments & priorities.
Manage credit account requirements, including excesses & overdue reviews, to ensure adequate control across the portfolio.
Contribute to the development of credit policies, procedures, and product development.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a credit risk role.
Exposure to Rural/Agricultural or Middle Market Commercial sectors preferred.
Thorough understanding of Credit Risk Management within financial services & related regulations (ECB, APRA).
Ability to communicate outcomes & decisions confidently & empathetically.
