Yilgarn Iron is focused on the responsible operation of its iron ore assets in the Yilgarn region, including Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range.
About the Role
Yilgarn Iron is seeking two Mine Geologists to join their team and support grade control activities at the Yilgarn Hub.
You will work alongside the mining contractor's team to ensure the ore body is accurately delineated and grade control activities are carried out efficiently.
The successful candidates will be responsible for supervising daily drilling programs, managing geological data, and supporting the delivery of high-quality ore to the processing plant.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily grade control drilling programs, ensuring ore body accuracy and timely delivery of ore to processing.
Monitor and analyze geological data to ensure the proper delineation of ore and waste.
Collaborate closely with mine planning and operations teams to ensure alignment between geological models and operational needs.
Work on field mapping, ore spotting, and waste delineation.
Ensure quality control for ore and waste material.
Assist in the management of geological data, reporting, and tracking to maintain high data accuracy.
Provide geological support to the mining team, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance with site safety standards.
Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Geology or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in grade control and mine geology, preferably in iron ore.
Experience with geological software (DataMine, Micromine, or similar).
Strong understanding of ore body models, grade control principles, and drilling design.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with a focus on safety.
Excellent communication skills for reporting and data sharing.
