The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced EL1-equivalent Project Officer to support the ICT controls environment of a Federal Government Department.
This role sits at the intersection of project governance, cyber security, risk management and assurance. You will design, implement and sustain a practical ICT control framework that enables secure, resilient delivery of digital services and aligns with whole-of-government digital and ICT assurance expectations.
You will work closely with project managers, architects, business analysts and cyber teams to ensure controls are embedded into delivery, tracked in a living control register, and evidenced for audits and compliance reviews.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain ICT control information, including ownership, mapping to policy and test procedures
* Embed controls across planning, design, build, test, deploy and BAU transition activities
* Coordinate control testing, evidence collection, audit artefacts and remediation tracking
* Link controls to risks, treatments and governance gates, ensuring exceptions are documented
* Author standards, templates, playbooks and procedures to uplift control adoption
* Produce dashboards, briefs and reports on control maturity and emerging risks
* Deliver briefings and coaching to project teams and control owners on audit readiness
* Collaborate with enterprise security, privacy, records, data, procurement and finance teams
Essential Criteria
* Proven APS experience designing and maintaining ICT controls in regulated environments
* Strong assurance and audit readiness experience with evidence and remediation tracking
* Ability to influence project and cyber teams to embed controls into delivery
Security Clearance
You must be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline or higher security clearance.
Application
You will be required to complete a further application form and write a one-page suitability statement. Candidates not meeting minimum requirements will not be contacted.
