Primary objective
Undertake Security Classification and Transfer Eligibility Assessments (SCATE) and other assessments for the initial security
classification and accommodation placements and for the development of Offender Management Plans for prisoners.
Provide advice to the Chief Prison Officer and Team Leader of Sentence Management for the purpose of sentence planning.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake Security Classification and Transfer Eligibility Assessments (SCATE) and complete OMPs on prisoners
sentenced up to 12 months.
2. Provide high quality administrative support to the Sentence Management unit including the preparation of
documentation, general correspondence, electronic data entry and undertake minor research tasks as required.
3. Record and maintain accurate and legible information in the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS).
4. Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in the ongoing development and implementation of
sentence management and the Integrated Offender Management System.
5. Carry out duties as requested by the Chief Prison Officer or Team Leader of Sentence Management
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound organisational skills and administrative experience including a proven ability to concurrently co-ordinate a range
of tasks, determine work priorities, meet stringent deadlines and work under pressure.
2. A high level of computing skills with proficiency in a range of relevant computer applications, particularly word processing,
including Records Management Systems and Mainframe databases.
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and an ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team operating in
a complex environment.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the policies and procedures within the workplace.
6. Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, prioritise workloads and approach issues in an innovative way
Desirable
1. Ability or experience working in a custodial environment.
2. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Northern Territory Government Information Act in respect to Records
Management.
