Our client, a large Toowoomba-based organisation in the education sector, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their growing team. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday 8:30-am -5:00pm.
The purpose of this vacancy is to work effectively with the Payroll Team Leader and four other team members to prepare and process a high quality, accurate payroll with a focus on customer service in accordance with legislation, policies and agreements for all staff.
**As a Payroll Officer, your main duties and responsibilities will be, but not limited to**:
- Assist the Payroll Team Leader to develop, implement, monitor and review legislation, policies, regulations and guidelines that relate to payroll in order to meet legislative requirements
- Contribute to and promote the development, alignment, attainment and review of strategic goals
- Perform payroll functions, monitor and work with others in the payroll team and assist with projects under the delegation of the Payroll Team Leader
- Assist with projects under the delegation of the Payroll Team Leader
- Complete other duties that are directed as needs change or grow, if the duties are consistent with the purpose of this position and any relevant legal and/or industrial obligations
**Experience and qualifications needed**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in payroll or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of products at an advanced level
- Demonstrated experience with Chris 21, iChris or similar payroll software
- Advanced interpersonal skills and demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills
- Proven ability to review and analyse complex payroll calculations
- Ability to prioritise work and meet regular deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently within a flexible team environment, providing proactive support and assistance
