We are currently partnering with a well-established and growing engineering consultancy to recruit a Design Technician / Junior Engineer specialising in residential foundations and retaining structures. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to intermediate candidate looking to build their career in a supportive, technically focused environment, with exposure to a strong pipeline of residential projects. The Role Working as part of an experienced design team, you will be responsible for delivering foundation (slab/footing) and retaining wall design and documentation across a range of residential projects. This role offers a strong blend of technical design and CAD drafting, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy both detailed documentation and engineering problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Preparation of foundation and footing design documentation Design and detailing of retaining wall systems Interpretation of architectural and structural drawings Utilisation of AutoCAD and internal design tools/software Applying relevant Australian Standards and design principles Reviewing soil reports and understanding their impact on design Maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Managing workflow and contributing to overall team delivery Liaising with internal teams and responding to client enquiries About You We are open to a range of backgrounds, including both junior engineers and experienced drafters/design technicians. You may bring: 2 years’ experience in structural, civil, or foundation design (ideal) OR strong AutoCAD/drafting experience within the construction industry Exposure to residential construction or engineering projects Understanding of footings, slabs, or retaining wall systems Basic knowledge of soil conditions and foundation behaviour Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Candidates from site-based roles looking to transition into a design-focused position are also encouraged to apply.
