Join Hays in supporting a dynamic local government on the North Sunshine Coast as they deliver a major disaster recovery program. This long-term contract opportunity offers the chance to play a pivotal role in financial governance across a $90M+ portfolio of recovery works funded by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA).
Your new role
* Ensure compliance with QRA funding guidelines and maintain accurate records of eligible expenditure
* Track financial performance across capital and operational recovery projects
* Partner with internal teams (finance, civil works, fleet, project delivery) and external stakeholders to optimise financial outcomes
* Conduct transaction reviews, manage job costing, and post journals to support funding recovery
* Deliver monthly reporting to key stakeholders including QRA and internal project leads
* Assist with claims, capitalisation, and asset componentisation at project close
* Champion collaboration, accountability, and process improvement
What you'll need to succeed
* Degree-qualified accountant with project experience
* Experience with TechOne is a strong advantage
* Solid grounding in cost accounting, activity-based costing, and applying accounting standards in grant-funded environments
* Strong analytical mindset and confident communication skills
* Highly organised, self-driven, and able to manage competing priorities
