The Role With the horticultural business growing nationally, and the office only recently opened, a new role has been created – Senior Research Agronomist. The primary function is to manage the technical horticultural research trials, as well as branch and administrative responsibilities. Reporting to the National Horticultural Lead, you will be responsible for conducting R&D efficacy and residue trials across a wide range of horticultural crops and environments. This includes working closely with and leading the local Research Agronomist. All the work is within a 50km radius, so highly intensive and with a limited travel requirement, so we can ensure you are home every night.
The Person The successful person will have the following skills and attributes:
1. several years of horticultural field trials experience
2. crop agronomy knowledge
3. data interpretation and scientific report writing experience
4. willingness to take the lead, train and supervise staff
5. good observer and listener with high attention to detail
6. relevant tertiary qualifications in Agriculture/Horticulture/Science
7. excellent communication skills to develop and grow the business in the region
You will most likely already be operating in this environment, familiar with growers, several horticultural crops, crop protection products and have an established reputation in the industry.
The salary package includes a fully maintained vehicle, and the company offers parental leave payments, further education subsidies and flexible working arrangements. You also have the ability to become a shareholder after 2 years of service.
