What You'll Be Doing
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to each individual's needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person's journey.
South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Drug Health Service is launching a new Aboriginal Drug Health Team—a dedicated, multidisciplinary team committed to supporting Aboriginal people and communities impacted by drug and alcohol misuse, with a focus on ice use. The team will deliver care through a culturally responsive, holistic model that recognises the importance of connection to culture, community, and country in the healing journey. The successful candidate will work across acute and primary care settings, supporting client engagement, care planning, care coordination, and harm reduction treatment.
This position is based in Cabramatta and will involve travel across the South West Sydney Region, working on the lands of the Dharawal, Darug, and Gundungurra Peoples. You will be supported by an Aboriginal Program Coordinator and have access to cultural supports, including cultural supervision and mentoring, the SWSLHD Aboriginal Health Unit, and a broad network of Aboriginal colleagues across the district.

Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred, trauma-informed care within a multidisciplinary Aboriginal Drug Health Team
* Engage clients across acute and primary care settings, supporting engagement, care planning, coordination and harm reduction
* Contribute to culturally safe practice and holistic care planning addressing physical, emotional and social needs
* Collaborate with Aboriginal Health Workers, Counsellors, a Social Worker, and an Aboriginal Program Coordinator
Requirements
* Registered nurse with eligibility to practice in NSW (implied by role)
* Willingness to travel across the South West Sydney Region
* Experience in alcohol and other drugs care and cultural safety (desirable)
