About This Opportunity
The Laboratory Technician is crucial in the effective operation of the Science Facilities, particularly the laboratories. This position provides support to the Science Leader of Learning and Science teachers in maintaining preparation rooms and laboratories in a safe, orderly and hygienic condition in accordance with Work Health Safety guidelines and is responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies used in the teaching of science.
* Permanent part-time (term-time) or casual position available
* 1 to 2 days per week, as negotiated
* Base hourly rate (SO5) $39.4421 - $41.3605, depending on experience
* Casual employees receive an additional 25% loading
For a permanent part‐time appointment, the role is worked during term‐time plus an additional three weeks (approximately 40 weeks per year). All remaining non‐term periods are taken as leave without pay, except for the annual leave entitlement, which is taken during the Christmas school holiday period.

About You
To be successful in the role you will have:
* Qualifications in relevant scientific field with some experience in laboratory procedures and working with chemicals.
* Sound knowledge of operating laboratory equipment.
* Apply knowledge of safety requirements for working with chemicals and hazardous materials.
* Well organised and strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work in a team, with teachers and Curriculum Leader Science.
* Current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain).
* Experience in laboratory work in an educational setting desirable but not essential.
