Sydney Secondary College Balmain is a vibrant middle school with 880 students, including 37 Aboriginal students. Located on the harbour foreshore with selective, enrichment, comprehensive and special education streams for students in years 7-10. We are proud of our diversity and inclusiveness. Demonstrated ability to lead innovative, engaging and differentiated programming and assessment to improve student learning outcomes for a diverse range of learners including high potential and gifted students and those with additional learning needs.
- Highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills to successfully undertake the administrative and systems practices within the TAS faculty.
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse range of permanent and temporary staff and build their capacity across a range of career stages.
Capacity to work with a dynamic executive team in striving for continual improvement through the development and implementation of the school's strategic directions.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
