Anglicare invites Expressions of Interest for the Transitional Housing Tenancy Officer role within the newly established Transitional Housing Program based in Wagga Wagga.
Anglicare's Transitional Housing Program provides safe, stable short-to-medium and longer-term accommodation options for women (and their children) who have experienced housing instability, including those affected by domestic or family violence. The program includes a portfolio of transitional properties managed in partnership with a local real estate agent, aimed at supporting women to successfully sustain these tenancies and move into long‑term, secure housing pathways in the private rental or community housing sectors.
As the Transitional Housing Tenancy Officer, you will play a key role in supporting women to build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to maintain a tenancy and transition successfully into permanent housing.
This role works closely with the real estate agent managing the transitional properties and focuses specifically on tenancy stability, tenancy skill‑building, and addressing practical barriers that may put a tenancy at risk.
A brief outline of the Position Description includes:
* Assist women to understand tenancy processes, rights, and responsibilities, including lease agreements, rental payments, and maintenance reporting
* Support skill development in areas such as budgeting, property upkeep, communication with landlords/real estate, and preparing for rental inspections.
* Conduct property visits as required to support tenancy stability.
* Identify emerging issues early and assist women to resolve tenancy problems before they escalate.
* Make appropriate referrals as required i.e. financial counselling, mental health, AOD, counselling.
Required qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Housing and Homelessness or a related human services field
* Minimum two years' experience in a related support or casework role
