Job Description
Label Makers are currently looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Industrial Engineer to join their team in Arndell Park NSW. The Industrial Engineer will optimise production processes within our label production at AP, focusing on workflow design, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements. A key responsibility of this role is developing and maintaining a production schedule that aligns machine capability, workforce availability, material constraints, and order requirements to ensure accurate and timely label production at optimal efficiency.
Responsibilities:
* Analyse label production processes (printing, laminating, die-cutting, finishing) to identify improvement opportunities for advance quality and throughput.
* Identify and implement process improvements, troubleshoot issues and introduce new technologies
* Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow modelling to increase throughput and reduce waste.
* Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to streamline operations and minimise downtime.
* Develop standardised work instructions and process documentation.
* Optimise changeover times and setup procedures across digital, flexo presses and finishing lines.
* Use ERP system (Prisim) to manage production data and scheduling inputs.
* Create dashboards and KPIs related to OEE, waste %, throughput, schedule adherence, and labour utilisation.
* Develop forecasting models to anticipate capacity requirements based on order patterns and seasonality.
* Analyse production data and provide recommendations to management
* Build and maintain a scheduling underlay including:
* Machine capability matrices
* Setup/changeover algorithms
* Team member skill levels
* Material/ink/die availability
* Press speed and capacity databases
* Generate daily and weekly production schedules aligned with capacity, due dates, and customer priorities.
* Monitor schedule adherence and provide real-time adjustments based on constraints or disruptions.
* Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, and Quality teams to ensure schedule accuracy.
* Work with product development and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new label designs.
* Coordinate with maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability.
* Provide training to supervisors and operators on new processes, tools, and scheduling methods to optimise the production and minimise waste.
Other Responsibilities
* Comply with the local laws and Labelmakers policies
* Ensure confidentiality, product and information security for the business, customers, and suppliers.
* Abide by the Company’s safety and GMP and environmental protection practices and procedures and report any potential risk / hazard to management and / or other authorities for corrective action as may be required.
* To carry out any other duties, assignments and/or functions as required operationally
Education / Qualifications / Experiences required:
* Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
* Experience (3+ years) in label manufacturing, packaging, or printing industry is a must
* Ideally, experience with flexographic, digital, and/or thermal label printing processes.
* Knowledge of die-cutting, laminates, adhesives, inks, coatings, and finishing operations.
* Familiarity with constraint-based scheduling or APS (Advanced Planning & Scheduling) logic.
* Statistical analysis and Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
Competencies and Skills
* Strong understanding of Lean/CI tools, workflow optimization, and capacity modelling.
* Proficiency in scheduling systems, ERP/MIS tools, and data analytics.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
* Familiarity with quality management systems and lean manufacturing principles
