The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant at Longridge Aged Care, you will support and assist the Cook in preparing, presenting and serving meals to residents, staff and visitors. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and overall kitchen operations. Your responsibilities will be to provide care and support aligned with residents preferred daily routines with a strong focus on:
* Assist with food preparation, plating, and service of meals
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
* Comply with food safety standards, policies, and legislation
* Report hazards or unsafe equipment and follow safe work practices
* Support continuous improvement initiatives in the kitchen
* Communicate residents' dietary needs and preferences to management
* Participate in mandatory training and professional development
To be successful, you will have:
* A minimum of 6-12 months of kitchen experience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Police Clearance to be obtained before the start date
* Commitment to ongoing learning and training
Desirable:
* Experience in aged care or a not-for-profit environment
* Understanding of Aged Care Quality & Safety Standards
* Certificate in Food Handling
