About KAMS

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community-controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 5 remote Aboriginal communities across the region and being the lead agency for headspace Broome, WA since 2008.

KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible, comprehensive primary health care services over its 34 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in Aboriginal Health.

Come work with KAMS — where your clinical skills make a real difference

KAMS is looking for a full-time Child Health Nurse based in Broome, WA. Reporting to the Remote Services Manager, you will coordinate and deliver child health services to Aboriginal children aged 0–5 across Broome and surrounding communities, aligned with the KAMS Model of Care.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Providing scheduled developmental health checks and childhood immunisations
* Facilitating recalls, screenings, and follow-ups
* Providing case management for at-risk children and coordinating specialist referrals
* Promoting uptake of the Kimberley Maternal & Child Health Protocols
* Delivering education, training and mentoring to staff and community members
* Supporting women's groups, parenting, and mums & bubs programs
* Contributing to child health data collection, monitoring and reporting
* Participating in planning forums and community awareness activities
* Travelling to remote communities, including Beagle Bay and Bidyadanga, as required

This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone who values purpose-driven work, continuous development, and the opportunity to create real impact in the lives of Kimberley families.

Who are we looking for?

To be considered, you must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with current AHPRA registration and hold a postgraduate qualification in Child Health. While experience in Aboriginal health or remote settings is highly regarded, we welcome applications from qualified RNs with a passion for transitioning into community-based child health.

Additionally, you will need:

* Experience delivering child or maternal health services in a Primary Health Care setting
* Understanding of Aboriginal health issues in remote WA communities
* Skills in community-based health promotion and health education
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and clinical databases
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural competency skills
* A current WA Working with Children Clearance and National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
* A manual WA C Class Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain) and willingness to travel frequently by 4WD or light aircraft

As our ideal candidate, you are passionate about early childhood health and thrive in culturally diverse, remote environments. You bring a proactive, collaborative approach to care and are confident working independently in community settings. With a deep respect for Aboriginal culture, you're committed to improving long-term health outcomes and building trusted relationships with families and service providers.

What's in it for you?

You'll receive a base salary of $123,000 per annum, PLUS Super, along with a comprehensive range of benefits, including:

* Relocation assistance up to $5,000
* Accommodation allowance of $13,000 p.a.
* Electricity allowance of $1,440 p.a.

* Annual airfares subsidy of $1,285 p.a.
* Salary Packaging benefits of up to $30,000
* 4WD training provided if not already held
* 5 weeks Annual leave per year
* Opportunities for professional development and study support
* A workplace culture that supports flexibility, community engagement, and continuous growth
