Volunteering in Practice (MON2000)

Volunteering in Practice (MON2000) is a 6-credit elective unit open to students in eligible courses across all faculties at Monash University.

The unit focuses on developing confidence and capacity to make a positive impact on society through participating in and leading volunteering activities.

Through this unit, you will explore conceptual frameworks and ideas that relate to volunteering work, while also exploring ways you may apply these in practice.

To satisfy the requirements of the Volunteering in Practice unit, you will undertake a minimum of 24 hours of volunteering in an approved organisation, as well as completing the online module and assessments. This unit is assessed as Pass Grade Only (PGO).

Responsibilities

* Complete a minimum of 24 hours of volunteering at an approved organisation.
* Complete the online module.
* Submit four practice journal posts (300 words each).
* Prepare and deliver an impact presentation – a 1500‐word research paper and a 4–5 minute video.
* Pass all assessments (PGO).

Eligibility

Students must satisfy the following conditions:

* Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate degree (see list below).
* Have 6 credit points available for a level 2 elective unit.
* Be in your second or third year of study.
