Primary objective
Provision of quality and evidence-based advice that informs the development of high-level projects, policy, planning and decision
making and supports the Director and Assistant Director to ensure that the work is aligned.
Context statement
The Sustainability and Partnerships Unit undertakes agency projects and policy development in sustainability and delegations. This
role provides coordination, partnership governance, and support for key projects and policies, ensuring efficient and effective use
of resources. A key responsibility of this role is the Delegations Policy, annual review and training to guide effective decision-
making and risk mitigation. The role also provides effective governance, reporting and fosters strong relationships with internal
and external stakeholders to enhance sustainable economic practices. The team supports schools and education facilities with
developing effective partnerships to support high-quality sustainable service delivery across the department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support the development and implementation of key projects, including governance, monitoring and reporting.
2. Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring policy, support documentation, high level documentation and outcomes.
3. Assist in developing and implementing a program of continuous improvement, including ensuring maintenance of effective
governance and reporting requirements
4. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of corporate governance, project management and accountability systems.
2. Sound knowledge and experience in the preparation of policy and other high-level documentation.
1. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex matters through
clear verbal and written briefings.
4. High level organisational skills and proven ability to manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a constantly changing
environment with minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the
ability to collaborate and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
2. Tertiary qualifications in public policy, project management, governance or similar.
3. Knowledge of education systems and the strategic directions and objectives of the Department of Education and Training and
Northern Territory Government.
