**The Team
The Commercial Team is made up of customer oriented people with innovative ideas, sharing and co-creating the overall Category Strategy across BIG W. We are a team that continues to drive for success for our Customers, Teams and Suppliers. Partnering across business functions, we come up with clear category strategies to ensure we deliver the right product to the right location at the right price and time to grow customer advocacy and improve business performance.
**The Role
The Assistant Category Manager brings the BIG W Strategy to life by executing on the Category Strategy to buy the best range and create value for our customers to maximise sales, profit and customer satisfaction and optimise inventory.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Commercial Apparel Team as an Assistant Category Manager. This is a six month fixed term contract role, Some of your responsibilities would include:
- Support the Senior Category Manager in building the category strategy by gaining a thorough understanding of customer insights & the market to contribute to the BIG W Strategy
- Curate ranges, refine pricing and promotion channel plan in line with Category Strategy, using Customer and Market insights to ensure it's aligned to BIG W strategies
- Partner with Suppliers to build relationship and optimise supplier portfolio in category to increase sales, profit and customer advocacy
- Partner with BIGW Asia & Graphic Packaging Design Team to maximise own brand offers & grow customer advocacy where relevant
- Working end to end as one team across all Support Teams and broader Woolworths Business
- Partner with Marketing team to establish effective marketing campaign activities
- To ensure that all products ranged within the category are compliant to Australian consumer law.
- To ensure that all own brand and exclusive brand products are approved through the Big W QA processes prior to ranging of the product lines. To understand BIG W's New Product Development process as it relates to the products ranged within your category
- Role model BIG W Purpose, Values and Ways of Working
- Develop as a Assistant Category Manager with clear development & succession plan to build trusted relationships within the BIG W business
**About You**
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience working in Apparel. You will be passionate about collaborating and enjoy partnering with our teams and suppliers to deliver the best experience for our customers.
In addition, you will need to demonstrate the following experience:
- Experience in a retail buying team, successfully supporting a sizeable category.
- Previous experience trading a small category is desirable.
