Remuneration: $66.02 per hour + 12% Superannuation + Salary Packaging

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Unit Manager to lead across our dual‑site Emergency Department service at Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals. This is a unique opportunity to apply your transferable leadership skills across two complementary ED environments. Campbelltown ED is one of the busiest and most diverse emergency departments in the region, delivering safe, high‑quality care to the community.

The Clinical Nurse Unit Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring safe patient flow, and leading a large nursing workforce with a strong focus on patient and staff safety, experience, and satisfaction.

Campbelltown ED is fully recruited to safe staffing levels, consistently operating with more than 35 nursing staff per shift, providing a strong foundation for high‑quality care and supportive leadership.

You will work closely with Senior Medical Officers, Registrars, Allied Health, Mental Health teams, and the broader multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, efficient, and safe emergency care across both sites.


Key Responsibilities


Clinical Leadership & Governance

* Provide visible, accountable clinical leadership that promotes safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with NSW Health policies, NSQHS Standards, and local governance frameworks.
* Foster a positive, supportive culture across both EDs.


Operational Management & Patient Flow

* Oversee the daily operational flow of a high‑acuity, high‑demand environment.
* Coordinate staffing, resource allocation, and escalation frameworks to ensure timely, safe care.
* Partner closely with ED Medical Officers to maintain effective patient flow, manage surges, and support decision‑making.


Multidisciplinary Collaboration

* Build strong relationships with medical, nursing, allied health, mental health, and external stakeholders.
* Lead cross‑site communication, MDT huddles, safety briefings, and operational meetings.
* Support consistent care standards across both campuses.


People & Culture Leadership

* Lead, mentor, and develop a large nursing workforce.
* Support staff wellbeing, engagement, retention, and capability development (CNS, CNE, leadership pathways).
* Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and professional growth.


Safety, Quality & Risk

* Maintain a high standard of patient and staff safety across both EDs.
* Lead incident review, risk mitigation, WHS responsibilities, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Monitor and improve patient experience, satisfaction, and safety outcomes.

In this role, you will contribute to a strong education and development culture with access to extensive training and leadership pathways, collaborate with a committed multidisciplinary team to enhance patient flow, safety, and overall experience, and be part of a supportive, well‑resourced ED service with robust staffing and strong organisational backing.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication and active listening skills, and a supportive, inclusive leadership style. They will be someone who can learn, adapt, and guide others through change, while maintaining a strong commitment to patient and staff safety and showing confidence in decision‑making during high‑pressure situations. Clinically, they will bring experience in emergency nursing, cannulation skills, and other relevant competencies, along with experience coordinating or leading teams in fast‑paced environments. The right candidate will also be able to build strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams and have a solid understanding of NSW Health policies, governance requirements, and safety frameworks.
