Expression of Interest: Community Recovery Roles
Grants Administrators and Customer Service Officers
Queensland's Community Recovery Program is seeking experienced and community-minded professionals who are ready to assist residents during times of need. These roles support grant assessments, customer enquiries, and the delivery of essential recovery services across impacted regions. Work typically occurs during the peak recovery season between January and March.
About the Roles
You will be part of a coordinated, fast-paced response environment where you assist community members impacted by severe weather events. Positions may include:
* Grants Administration: evaluating applications, processing approvals and payments, maintaining accurate records of submissions, disbursements and correspondence
* Customer Service and Contact Centre Support: responding to enquiries, guiding applicants through the grants process, clarifying information and referring complex matters
* Assessment and Application Processing: working to program criteria and policies, requesting additional documentation, liaising with stakeholders and ensuring compliance
Skills and Experience
We are seeking candidates who bring:
* Previous experience working in Community Recovery, Disaster Recovery or emergency response initiatives
* Proven experience processing grant applications
* Proficiency with grants management systems such as SmartyGrants (or similar) and strong Excel skills (data entry, filtering, basic analysis)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to support vulnerable community members with empathy
* High attention to detail, ability to follow structured processes and to thrive in a reactive, shifting environment
* Flexibility to be rostered on a four-day rotating roster between Monday and Sunday, shifts scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm and sometimes with short-notice change
What You Can Expect
* Meaningful, purpose-driven work supporting Queenslanders in recovery
* Competitive consistent pay, paid regularly: plus superannuation
* Training and onboarding support to ensure you are ready for deployment
* Work aligned to the January to March recovery season, with priority access to future activations for returning staff
* Four days on 2 days off rotating roster between Monday and Sunday, shifts between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm
* A dedicated team and streamlined placement process so you can focus on delivering meaningful support rather than admin delays
