The Role
This is a fabulous opportunity to bring your interest in Science Education to fruition by joining a busy, dynamic, and supportive team. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager, you will be working closely with our friendly team of Laboratory Technicians to deliver our fast-paced curriculum.
This role is a fixed term, (all of term 2 and first two weeks of term 3) during term time only (37.5 hours per week) at our Wheelers Hill Campus.
Key Duties
Prepare and manage laboratory materials (solutions, stains, media, etc.) while ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
Assist with maintaining hazardous substance registers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and emergency equipment.
Conduct risk assessments, maintain accurate records, manage inventory, and assist with the ordering of chemicals and equipment.
Clean, maintain laboratory apparatus, and organising the setup of materials, rooms, and displays for events such as Open Days.
Collaborate with teaching staff to allocate materials, assist in classroom setup, and support practical lessons.
Advise staff on the technical aspects of practical equipment, contribute to developing practical activities, and participate in process improvements and initiatives.
Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills And Experience
Experience working in a School or Academic Laboratory is advantageous
Knowledge of safe chemical storage and safe use of Laboratory equipment in accordance with current regulations
Highly competent in ICT and database management
High levels of organisational and team collaborative skills
Level 1 or 2 First Aid Certificate is desirable
Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check
