The Young Parents Program (YPP) takes a strengths-based approach, building the capacity of young parents to live independently in appropriate housing, develop parenting and life skills to ensure best outcomes for their children, and break the cycle of intergenerational trauma, abuse and neglect. About the role This position is responsible for the operational management of the Residential Young Parents Program including supervising case management and practice, ensuring the effective operation of a 24-hour service, and ensuring the delivery of a quality, evidence and trauma-informed service for young parents and their children. The Manager will work in line with out-of-home care (“OOHC”) accreditation, legislative and funder requirements while also collaborating with the broader YPP management team to support a holistic approach to program management and development. This role requires “on call” hours as part of a rotating roster, working outside of normal business hours on these occasions to provide after-hours support. This may include in-person attendance at the YPP Residential facility outside of normal business hours. What you will bring Demonstrated ability to effectively lead motivate and develop staff while working in a multi-disciplinary environment, including supporting teams to provide accessible and safe support to people from a range of cultural and diverse identities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (“CALD”) backgrounds, people from the LGBTQIA community and people living with a disability. Substantial knowledge and understanding of applying evidence-based tools and trauma-informed practice in supporting child and adolescent development and parenting, and child protection interventions. Comprehensive technical knowledge of evidence-based case management strategies and principles with proven, substantial management experience in applying those strategies in cases with people experiencing vulnerabilities. Comprehensive technical knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including Out of Home Care accreditation requirements, mandatory reporting obligations, child protection legislation and statutory frameworks, and workplace health and safety. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial management, budgeting and monitoring with substantial time management and organisational skills. Substantial experience in working with children, young people and families with multiple presenting issues and who have experienced abuse, neglect and intergenerational trauma in a casework setting. Qualifications/Licences Driver’s license Registration on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register Working with Children Check Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or equivalent and relevant substantial experience.
