Payroll Project Officer

Location: Melbourne - Inner City Suburbs

Our client is a leading multinational organisation with a dynamic presence across global markets. With a strong commitment to innovation, compliance, and employee experience, they are undertaking a critical payroll transformation project and seeking a capable Payroll Project Officer to support this important initiative.


About the Role


The Payroll Project Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of payroll-related projects, including system enhancements, compliance updates, process improvements, and employee communications. This role will work closely with the Payroll, HR, and IT teams, as well as external vendors, to ensure the successful and timely delivery of project milestones.


Key Responsibilities

* Assisting with a backpay payroll project
* Assist with end-to-end project coordination and administration, including project plans, timelines, and reporting.
* Liaise with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate requirements gathering and process documentation.
* Conduct data analysis, reconciliations, and validation as part of payroll testing phases.
* Identify and escalate risks or issues that may impact project delivery.
* Prepare project documentation, communications, and training materials for stakeholders.
* Contribute to process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation and enterprise agreements.


Skills and Experience Required

* Advanced Excel skills - Essential
* Demonstrated experience in a payroll or HR project role, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
* Solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards, and compliance requirements.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Experience with payroll systems ADP Payforce - Beneficial but not essential
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and project tracking tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello).
