Salary: $84,228 - $91,809 + 15.4% super
Responsibilities
* Build capability to support RF and radar operational infrastructure; work across multiple instrumentation networks
* Conduct hands-on field maintenance in remote locations; travel as required across Australia
* Maintain and service a range of instrumentation networks including:
* Rain Radars
* Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
* Upper-Air monitoring systems (sounding balloons)
* Sea Level Monitoring Stations
* Wave and wave height buoys
* Satellite ground reception and space weather instruments
* Flood warning/rainfall monitoring systems
* Cooperative observers and volunteer rainfall stations
* Communications, telemetry, and instrumentation systems
About the Team
The Brisbane Observing Operations Hub is part of eight Bureau of Meteorology technical Operations centres. Staff travel to remote areas using 4WDs, planes, boats, and helicopters to maintain service delivery across instrumentation networks. There is potential for travel to other parts of Australia to support the other hubs.
Qualifications
* Electronics, Electrical or Instrumentation Technician or Engineer with relevant qualifications
* Previous field experience preferred
* Willingness to travel and work in remote locations
* Team-oriented and hands-on in field environments
