ABOUT LOCKHART DESIGN
Lockhart Design is a well-established residential building design studio specialising in custom new homes and renovations. We're known for practical, buildable design, clear communication, and a professional yet down-to-earth approach - with clients and within our team.
With an upcoming period of maternity leave, we're seeking a Design Manager who can confidently lead projects and support the team while maintaining the quality and standards the studio is known for.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior, hands-on Design Team Leader position.
You'll manage your own residential projects while also overseeing the day-to-day design workflow, supporting designers, and helping keep projects moving smoothly through concept, documentation, and delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage residential design projects from concept to construction drawings
* Lead and attend client meetings, including site visits and design reviews
* Oversee project timelines, revisions, and documentation quality
* Support and mentor designers and draftspersons
* Coordinate with consultants, builders, and council requirements
* Assist with internal design standards, workflows, and quality control
ABOUT YOU
You are likely:
* An experienced residential designer ready to step into management, or
* A Design Team Leader seeking a hands-on role within a small, established studio
You'll bring:
* Strong residential design and construction documentation experience
* Confidence communicating with clients, consultants, and builders
* The ability to manage priorities, people, and projects calmly and clearly
* A collaborative, professional approach to leadership
Previous leadership or mentoring experience is highly regarded.
