An exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer (Rates) to maintain Council's financial billing systems, ensuring the accurate and timely production of notices, invoices and statements, while arranging collection in accordance with Council's procedures.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Maintain billing and collection related information and records, specialising in rates.
- Maintain property information caused by changes of address and land sales and assist with the supplementary valuations by processing building and planning permits.
- Ensure the timely issue of notices, invoices, and statements.
- Attend to the daily processing of agency payment files and the processing of direct debits.
- Maintain payment arrangements for approved debtors and monitor the recovery of debts to ensure the timely collection of outstanding amounts.
- Liaise with external collection agencies for the collection of outstanding amounts.
- Assist in account reconciliation of ledgers to sub-systems.
- Assist with street naming and allocating street numbers as required.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of various reports
- Undertake other duties as required, including the provision of backup for finance and rating team members for various duties commensurate to the current banding level.
**Requirements and Qualifications**:
- Possess an understanding of the controls and processing procedures of the billing functions.
- Knowledge and experience of debt collection and associated procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to discuss, co-ordinate and resolve the collection of outstanding amounts.
- Experience commensurate with the requirements of the position, including the knowledge and skills gained from working within a financial environment, particularly in relation to billing and collections.
- Experience in providing excellent customer service in a similar size organisation.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a team.
- Experience at a similar level within a local government organisation is desirable
