The Story
Transcendomics is an innovative company founded in 2024 to scale clinical genomic testing across Australia and beyond. Its product, Genomical, is a market‑leading Genomic Information Management System (GIMS) that makes genomic testing safer, easier, and scalable for laboratories.
Genomical bridges gaps in the genomic test workflow by automating data workflows and securely storing genomic data in a cloud‑based platform. The team builds critical infrastructure that supports clinical organisations and pathology laboratories in delivering life‑changing genomic tests.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer you will contribute to the development and improvement of core APIs for our proprietary orchestration service and web portal. You will work on secure, full‑stack systems in AWS with a focus on integration, automation, serverless architecture, and cloud security.
* Design, build and maintain backend services and workflows in AWS (Step Functions, Lambda, Batch/ECS, RDS) to orchestrate complex clinical genomics pipelines.
* Develop and evolve Python/Flask APIs and the React portal used by labs for data submissions, test configuration and workflow monitoring.
* Implement and maintain integrations with third‑party genomic tools and vendor APIs, handling increasing complexity of data flows, edge cases and long‑running jobs.
* Improve and operate the platform infrastructure and software delivery pipeline (CI/CD, IaC, Observability, Security) in a highly regulated environment.
What You Bring To The Role
You bring senior, end‑to‑end engineering capability: strong AWS serverless and platform skills, solid backend development in Python/Flask, meaningful React/Front‑end experience, good data and SQL instincts and the ability to design, document and ship robust system integrations and workflows in a regulated environment.
In addition you have curiosity to learn genomics and HL7 FHIR, comfort collaborating closely with product and customers, openness to feedback and a pragmatic mindset that balances building new features with security, reliability and maintainability.
