Laboratory Technician - Microbiology focus

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician - Microbiology to join the production team. The facility is located in Arncliffe, reporting directly to the Production Manager. The successful candidate must be available for 8‑hour shifts varying between 5 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work as required.
What does the job look like?
* Daily housekeeping, hygiene and cleaning practices in line with GMP procedures
* Performing and documenting environmental and personnel monitoring in line with GMP procedures
* Inspect samples and report results of environmental monitoring, personnel monitoring, sterility testing, validation and qualification samples
* Maintain media certificates of analysis
* Contribute to trending of microbiological testing results
* Perform final product sterility testing
* Perform and maintain schedules for personnel qualifications (i.e., aseptic technique tests and gowning) for production team and other staff
* Cleaning and sanitising items for next production cycle
* Inventory control of microbiological media, and arrange for external laboratory testing where required (i.e., GPT, stasis etc.)
To be successful in this role, you will need to have key personal attributes which include but are not limited to:
* Microbiology experience preferred but not essential
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work varying shifts between 5 am-5 pm
* Initiative and self‑motivation
* A strong work ethic and team spirit
* Good level of physical fitness (must be able to lift 15-25 kg)
* Tertiary qualified in Science or related disciplines is preferred (chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry)
