Full Job Description
We are working with a tier‐one mining operation to source an SMP Supervisor for ongoing operational works across their mining assets. This is a hands‐on, site‐based role, offered on a 7/7 FIFO roster from Brisbane or as a residential Mount Isa position.
In this role, you will supervise Structural, Mechanical and Piping teams across brownfield operational sites. You will manage steel erection crews, mechanical fitters, boilermakers, riggers and piping teams, ensuring safe, high‐quality work delivery while meeting operational schedules. You will also read and interpret P&IDs, structural drawings, and GA layouts to support daily site activities.
This is a key leadership position where you will ensure efficient resource utilisation, maintain compliance, and support operational excellence across multiple mining plant assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise SMP teams across structural, mechanical and piping works
* Manage subcontractors and team performance onsite
* Oversee installation and maintenance of mining plant equipment
* Read and interpret P&IDs, GA and structural drawings
* Monitor budgets, work progress and reporting
* Ensure safe work practices and compliance with site standards
About you
* Proven experience supervising Structural, Mechanical & Piping teams in mining or heavy industry
* Strong understanding of mining plant operations, brownfield works and equipment installation
* Experienced managing subcontractors and operational crews
* Skilled in reading P&IDs, GA and structural drawings
* Effective communicator with strong leadership and problem‐solving capability
* Flexible to work FIFO 7/7 from Brisbane or residential Mount Isa
