The Opportunity
We're currently looking for an Operations Officer to join our Western Australia State Team, based in our Fremantle office, on a full‑time permanent basis.
In this hands‑on role, you'll play a key part in supporting vessel operations, helping ensure every ship calling into port is handled safely, efficiently and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with shipping or logistics experience who enjoys variety, responsibility and working close to the action.
Due to the nature of vessel operations, flexibility is essential, with some weekend work and hours outside standard office times required.
What you'll be doing
You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to keep vessel calls running smoothly, including:
* Coordinating with stevedores to ensure safe and efficient cargo operations
* Preparing and lodging reefer manifests for pre‑sail inspections
* Balancing import and export containers against terminal and OVA lists
* Lodging and clearing customs manifests within statutory timeframes
* Liaising with cargo suppliers, ship's officers and consignees
* Managing hazardous cargo procedures in line with CHEMLINK and regulatory requirements
* Preparing operational and performance reports
* Processing vessel accounts in line with credit terms
* Supporting container control activities when required
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
* At least 2 years' experience in shipping or logistics (essential)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent organisation and time‑management, with the ability to work calmly under pressure
* A high level of attention to detail and sound problem‑solving skills
* A proactive, collaborative approach and strong customer focus
* A full Australian Driver's License
* A MSIC card or the ability to obtain one
