Position Information
The P4 principal position will commence from the start of Term ******. The principal will lead the establishment of the school in **** ahead of the school opening on Day 1 Term ******. Proudly located in the Queanbeyan Network of Schools on Ngambri and Ngunnawal lands in Googong on the border of NSW and the ACT, the new Googong High School (name pending) is situated in the capital region in close proximity to Canberra, 20 km from Canberra International Airport and only a short drive to the Snowy Mountains or to the South Coast. The new school will also be mindful of its role within the local community and the broader society, working closely with other community agencies to support students' academic, emotional, and social development. A second public primary school adjacent to the newly established high school is to be established. Working in close partnership with Googong Public School, the two schools will ensure strong transition programs and support continuity of learning for students from Preschool through to Year 12. The school will provide an inclusive, responsive and supportive environment that allows each individual to develop to their potential. Innovative facilities across the campus provide opportunities to work with the community to enhance the curriculum for students through the provision of extra-curricular activities. The school will build teacher capacity to promote and develop agreed values, positive behaviours and success in all students.

A highly approachable and engaging leader able to lead and establish the schools shared vision and School Excellence Plan in partnership with local community ensuring a culture of continuous learning for students and staff that inspires confidence in Public Education.
Strong educational leadership, strategic analysis and planning capability, combined with creative problem-solving skills to establish innovative programs and initiatives that lead to high quality learning outcomes for all students.
Proven success implementing and leading student wellbeing programs and practices to advocate for, support and engage a diverse student community in an inclusive learning culture that supports all students to reach their potential.
General Selection Criteria
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
