The Requirement:
Help deliver meaningful AI solutions with real-world community impact. A specialist research and innovation lab focused on ethical, responsible and operationally robust AI systems is seeking two Python Developers to design, build, train and deploy machine learning models into production environments. You'll be working with modern AI model architectures and large datasets in a collaborative, applied research environment.
Overview of the roles and what you'll be doing:
* Ability to implement models from research papers, evaluate and benchmark performance, apply MLOps for model development and deployment and work confidently with core ML Python libraries.
* Several years' experience in software development with Python
* Proven software development project management skills including ability to break down complex software development goals into Epics, User Stories, and Issues using agile project management tools
* Strong familiarity with software development principles and practices including developing CI/CD pipelines, version control, code repositories and testing frameworks
* Demonstrated experience building and/or fine-tuning Machine Learning models using contemporary AI/ML frameworks
* Sound understanding of different AI model architectures
* Willingness to source, annotate and augment/transform data for model development purposes.
Experience required:
Mandatory Criteria
* Strong Python development experience applied to machine learning.
* Ability to implement models from research papers into production-quality code.
* Experience training, evaluating and benchmarking ML models.
* Ability to deploy and integrate ML systems via APIs and existing workflows.
* Experience preparing and augmenting datasets for model training.
* Proven experience developing APIs / microservices.
* Proficient with Git-based collaboration (GitLab/GitHub/Azure DevOps).
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
* Familiarity with Hugging Face, Ultralytics (YOLO/DETR), NumPy.
* Experience using MLflow and/or Weights & Biases (W&B).
* Python frameworks: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
* Workflow orchestration: Airflow, Prefect, or NiFi.
* Experience with REST APIs, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD.
* Exposure to Agile delivery practices.
