Overview
We are seeking an experienced Program Management Director to lead a Program Management Office (PMO) supporting a large, complex government program in the Northern Territory.
This role will provide executive-level leadership, governance and strategic oversight to ensure effective program planning, resourcing and delivery across multiple stakeholders and workstreams. The successful candidate will work closely with senior government representatives and delivery teams to maintain program alignment, performance and governance.
Location and Duration
* Location: Darwin, NT
* Duration: 12 months with potential 2 x 12 month extensions
* Rate: $90–$120 per hour (contract)
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and operate a fit-for-purpose PMO governance framework including reporting, risk and issue management, escalation processes and program controls.
* Maintain the integrated program schedule and critical path, ensuring alignment across scope, cost, benefits and milestones.
* Provide strategic oversight of program resourcing, planning and delivery across multiple work packages.
* Support the development of business cases and options analysis for future phases of the program.
* Provide clear and concise executive reporting and advice to senior stakeholders and governance boards.
* Act as a key liaison between government stakeholders and program delivery teams to ensure alignment across governance and delivery.
* Support the coordination and commissioning of major work packages and future program activities.
* Lead and mentor PMO personnel and embed consistent program management tools and practices across the program environment.
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated executive-level experience establishing or leading a PMO within complex government or multi-stakeholder environments.
* Proven ability to develop and implement program governance frameworks, methodologies and delivery tools.
* Extensive experience managing major programs, infrastructure projects or large-scale government initiatives.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working with senior executives, boards and external partners.
* Experience overseeing program scheduling, resourcing and delivery of large work packages.
* Highly developed strategic planning, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering, business or a related discipline.
* Experience working with regional or remote communities or diverse stakeholder groups will be highly regarded.
Additional Information
* Role is primarily based in Darwin, Northern Territory, with attendance at government offices and occasional travel to Canberra as required.
