Our client is an Australian SME size business operating across multiple complementary revenue streams that have grown under entrepreneurial leadership to a current headcount of 200. Following a recent acquisition by a significant international player, the organisation is embarking on a new phase of professionalisation and growth, and is now building the leadership capability to take the business to its next stage.
THE ROLE
This is a newly elevated, standalone HR leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. As the most senior HR professional in the business, you will be responsible for building and executing a people strategy that supports the next phase of growth. You will have the autonomy to design and implement frameworks from the ground up, with genuine influence at the highest levels of the organisation. Your remit spans the full people agenda. You will partner with the CEO and senior leadership team on people strategy and post‐acquisition integration, oversee end‐to‐end talent acquisition and employer branding, and implement a structured performance management framework. You will manage complex employee relations matters in line with the Fair Work Act and Automotive Industry Awards, and lead culture and engagement initiatives across all sites. Beyond the strategic agenda, you will manage workforce planning across the 180‐person organisation, oversee HR operations including onboarding, off‐boarding, and people data, and maintain WHS frameworks and compliance obligations. You will also supervise and mentor the HR and administration team, and manage general administration and facilities functions across the business. This is a hands‐on role and you must be willing to roll up your sleeves and get involved in operational work. This is an office based role with free on site parking.
THE CANDIDATE
You are an experienced HR professional with a minimum of seven years of HR experience, including at least three years in a senior standalone or HR leadership capacity. You are equally comfortable operating at a strategic level and rolling up your sleeves to get things done, and you thrive in fast‐paced, multi‐site environments. Experience in automotive, retail, logistics, manufacturing, or operational industries is essential. You bring deep knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Industry Awards, WHS legislation, and privacy obligations, along with a demonstrated track record in performance management and complex employee relations. You have designed and delivered recruitment and attraction strategies, and you are confident in building an employer brand from the ground up. Above all, you are a credible and confident communicator who can influence at CEO and board level, earn the trust of frontline managers, and bring people along through change. A tertiary qualification in HR, Business, or a related field is required; WHS certification is preferred.
